The 7th annual Barbara Walker Butterfly Festival took place on a beautiful, sunny day. Close to 500 people attended, including 70 volunteers, many of whom were Mass Butterfly Club members. Sam Jaffe’s Caterpillar Lab was once again a highlight, prompting ooh’s and aah’s from young and old. Club members led walks for 20-30 people at a time, assisted with garden interpretation, plant sales and milkweed planting, provided photographs, staffed the MBC table, entertained with stories and music, and helped raise and raze tents. The Festival was sponsored this year by National Grid, Astrum Solar, and Providence & Worcester Railroad.

Coordinators Kristin Steinmetz and Martha Gach were especially pleased with the turnout, and by how smoothly the day ran. That couldn’t happen without the help of many people, and so a big thank you to all who gave so freely of their time and expertise.
